Recent Updates and New Payment Provider for Test Track

Over the last few weeks I’ve released a couple of new versions of Test Track so wanted to provide some info on a blog post and what’s expected in the next release.

A lot of these releases have been bug fixes or UI improvements however, there are some new features added along the way.

One of the UI improvements made was around comments on a test run step. From the list of steps, there is now a badge showing you the number of comments, or a badge to create a new one, where it opens the sidebar straight to the comments tab.

There is also big improvements to the markdown editor with now the ability to underline text, but also the ability to highlight text and change the formatting or apply numbering or bullet lists to multiple lines. Also, improvements to where the cursor ends up after pressing a format button or shortcut is now more consistent.

I’ve added the ability to mark a test run step as blocked, allowing you to add one or more other tests being a dependant test to unblock another test step, improving your testing flow and giving you a better view of how a test run is progressing.

In the next release coming very soon, there won’t bee too much noticeable as its more backend, but one of the changes is our payment provider. I am moving away from Stripe to Lemon Squeezy for the payment service. The main reason for this is around tax compliance. I am not an accountant, nor do I want to be, and I am not particularly great at maths either, so I always had some form of dread if I had a paying customer and how I would handle tax and VAT compliance, especially as each country has different rules and rates. Lemon Squeezy saves this hassle for me as they are a merchant of record so they can conduct all of the tax and VAT compliance on my behalf which means I can focus on the development of Test Track.

Any existing users shouldn’t be affected by this change.
